This time around I’ll be writing my Vega Protein Smoothie review.
I actually ended up really like this product! It was definitely a lot better than I expected.
The flavors are great and can be mixed with anything you want.
Now I don’t use it on a daily basis. I tend to use it when I have a little bit more time to make my protein shake or in this case a protein smoothie.
I’m totally in love with Vega and their products!
If you’re interested in learning about the rest of their protein supplements then just scroll back up when you’re doing reading.
I’ll leave links to the rest of my Vega Protein reviews below
If you’re unfamiliar with Vega supplements or the brand itself there’s no need to worry because I’ll give you some background about it up next.
Who Is Vega
Vega is a brand of plant-based products. They offer protein powder, protein bars and other fitness supplements like pre-workout.
The company was founded 17 years ago in 2001 with the motto is of “Ingredients with a purpose”
Vega does not add unnecessary ingredients to make their products look more appealing.
They also promise that their products will meet each of the following promises
- Non-GMO Project Verified
- No artificial flavors or preservatives
Vega Protein Smoothie Review
With the Protein Smoothie you get 4 different flavor options.
Well technically 5 because Vega offers a flavorless and unsweetened option too.
This might be for people who may not like how the other flavors taste with their smoothies.
- Natural (unsweetened)
- Bodacious Berry
- Topical Mango
I would have liked to see a more variety of flavors or maybe split the Bodacious Berry into separate flavors.
Maybe I just want strawberry without the extra berries? I’m not a picky person but I’m just speaking for those who might be.
However, since this is targeted towards making smoothies then maybe throw in Banana flavor or a Strawberry/Banana mix.
I think that’d be great!
Now although you don’t get a million choices for flavors, they are extremely versatile!
You can mix them with basically anything and still end up with a great protein shake or smoothie.
I’ll try to throw in some recipes at the end of this article to give you some cool ideas with these flavors.
What’s In It?
Vega Protein smoothie has a unique protein blend.
It also has a few extra ingredients that are notable but for the most part it’s the protein that’s significant.
One of the reasons this protein taste so good compared to other products is because of it’s lower amount of protein.
You still get a solid 15g but if you’re a more active person then this might not be enough for you.
What kind of protein are you getting though?
Well Vega decided to combine 4 different kinds of protein in their blend.
- Pea protein – improves weight loss and aids muscle comfort after workouts
- Brown rice protein – improves liver and helps regulate cholesterol
- Hemp protein – high in amino acids and essential fatty acids
- Sacha inchi protein – improves brain, heart, bone and joint health
I’m sure you’ve realized that the Vega Protein Smoothie isn’t necessarily your “gain 20 pounds of lean muscle in 2 weeks” kind of protein.
It’s about providing more nutritional value and improving overall health.
If you look closely each of the 4 different kinds of protein that Vega uses in this product helps improve a different aspect in your life.
More Key Ingredients
- Organic Alfalfa grass powder – reduces inflammation, improves bowel movement and boosts immune system
- Organic Kale powder – filled with nutrients, packed with antioxidants, and lowers cholesterol
- Spinach powder – boosts metabolism, improves eyesight and lowers blood pressure
- Broccoli powder – aids in digestion, help detox the body and boosts brain health
- Papain powder – eases muscle soreness, aids in skin and wound healing
After trying out this product I was actually really excited about writing my Vega Protein Smoothie review.
If you compare this to the other Vega products then you’ll notice this one lacks in protein and extra nutrition ingredients like probiotics.
However, that shouldn’t discourage you from purchasing this one!
Vega has made it so that taking your protein isn’t a dreadful and tedious process.
They don’t want you throwing a giant scoop of protein into your bottle with a mixing ball!
Their mission was for MORE people to add protein in their lives by simply making it more convenient.
By making amazing flavors that are PERFECT in any smoothie.
Sure, if you’re more active and love working out this won’t be your go-to supplement. It doesn’t have enough protein.
BUT! On your off days you can totally lay back and sip on a nice protein smoothie.
Should you buy it?
Absolutely! If you’re just an average person looking to add more protein to your diet then this will work perfect.
If you’re a gym rat or workout junkie then buy this as a second protein supplement.
You won’t regret it!
Obviously you’ll be using this protein more in smoothies so I decided to gather 3 different recipes you can try out for yourself
All of these recipes will be easy and quick to make.
Literally the hardest thing will be to get al of the ingredients out of your fridge!
The instructions are simple, simply throw everything into a blender and mix it.
I strongly encourage you to experiment with the recipes. Try different protein flavors and swap out for other fruits and veggies.
1. Green ABC Smoothie
The ABC stands for Apples, Bananas, and Carrots. This is a great smoothie if you struggle to get your greens on a daily basis.
Here are the ingredients
- 1 scoop of Bodacious Berry flavor Vega Protein Smoothie
- Squeeze juice from half a lemon
- Small handful of ice cubes
- 1 big handful of your favorite greens
- 1 Banana
- 1/2 of an Apple (or full if you prefer)
- 1 Carrot, medium size
For you liquid you can use water if you’d like but we find that unsweetened almond milk works better.
2. Very Berry Smoothie
This is my favorite recipes.
I LOVE my berries! So throwing them all together in one drink is amazing!
- 1 scoop of Topical Mango or Bodacious Berry flavor protein powder
- 1 cup of orange juice
- 1/2 cup of strawberries
- 1/2 cup of blueberries
- 1/2 cup of blackberries
- Handful of ice
3. Iced Mocha Smoothie
This smoothie is bit different. This is for my coffee addicts!
No veggies or fruit for this recipe. It’s basically your daily morning coffee with boost of protein
- 1 scoop of Choc-a-lot flavor protein powder
- 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
- 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
- 1/2 cup of cold brewed coffee
- Handful of ice
