The 5 Best Keto Protein Powder

Finding the best keto protein powder can be pretty difficult because there’s so many choices!

Whey protein? Casein? Plant based?

Which one of these will work best for your needs?

Choosing the right one for you with depend on what you’re personal needs are.

For example you may want a protein that meets one or more of the following examples

  • Low carb
  • Low calories
  • High protein
  • Gluten-free
  • Plant based protein
  • Has extra vitamins and nutrients

1. Perfect Keto

best protein for keto diet

The first on this list is the Keto Collagen protein from Perfect Keto.

Unlike most protein supplements, this product was made specifically for the keto diet. It is also the first keto-friendly protein powder that provides complete collagen recovery.

If you’re unfamiliar with the term; Collagen is the most significant structural protein in our body but unfortunately it’s nonexistent from the average person’s diet.

Here is what you get with one scoop of Keto Collagen protein.

Nutritional Facts

  • 15g per scoop
  • 80 Calories
  • 70mg of Sodium
  • check 1g of Fiber

  • 10g of Protein
  • 4g of Fat
  • 1g of Carb

Keto Collagen is packed with 10 grams of collagen peptides from grass-fed cows.

Are there benefits from grass-fed protein?

Yes, absolutely!

Clinical studies have actually proven that collagen not only promotes muscle growth and strength it also improves the following;

  • Strengthens bones
  • Joints and ligaments
  • Gut lining and connective tissues
  • Skin health

Regular protein powders normally won’t do that all of that.

  • Grass-fed protein
  • No artificial sweetners
  • Variety of flavors available
  • Tailored for the Keto Diet

  • Small sized container
  • Very low protein content

Overall Rating   4.3/5

The Keto Collagen protein is perfect for the keto diet.

Overall it has what most people are looking for in terms of fat, carbs and other benefits.

Personally, for me the amount of protein is a little low but definitely not a deal breaker.

I’d highly recommend you check it out for yourself. You can find it on Amazon through the link below

2. Vega One

best protein shake for keto diet

Vega sport is one of my favorite protein!

It is a plant-based protein packed with tons of vitamins and minerals to not only boost your efforts to build muscle but to also increase your overall health.

With the Vega Sport you have two options, keep your servings as a full scoop of a 1/2 scoop.

I highly recommend sticking with a 1/2 scoop because this protein is a bit high in carbs if you use a full scoop.

Now, if you’re paying close attention to your macros and you can manage the high carb content with this protein then feel free to use a full scoop.

Here’s the breakdown of what you get with one scoop of Vega Sport protein.

Nutritional Facts

  • 44g per scoop
  • 160 Calories
  • 0mg of Cholesterol
  • 370mg of Sodium
  • 3g of Fiber
  • 1g of Sugar

  • 30g of Protein
  • 3g of Fat
  • 6g of Carbs

The main difference between Vega sport and any other protein out there is the fact that it contains probiotics!

If you don’t know what probiotics are, in short, they are healthy bacteria that when consumed provide tons and health benefits that improve your overall health.

A few of these benefits are

  • Improved digestion
  • Increase in weight loss
  • Improved skin health
  • Increase immune system
  • Reduced inflammation
  • Lower blood cholesterol

Two other ingredients that Vega proudly states to include in the Vega sport protein are;

  • Tart Cherry: Tart cherries are a rich source of antioxidants. Tart cherry juice appears to support recovery following strenuous endurance exercise by reducing inflammation, and aiding in the recovery of muscle function.
  • Turmeric: Turmeric contains curcumin, an antioxidant.

  • 6g of BCAAs
  • 6g og Glutamine
  • 1 Billion CFU probiotics
  • Packed with vitamins and nutrients

  • Full scoop is 6g of Carbs
  • Limited flavors available
  • Sodium content a bit high

The Vega Sport protein is changing the game.

It’s a clean, plant-based protein + performance and recovery ingredients!

Not only does it give you 15g of protein per serving (1/2 scoop) but it’s FILLED with so many other healthy ingredients.

You’ll be building and maintaining a solid lean physique and also feeling better than you ever had before because Vega Sport basically detoxes your body and improves your overall digestion system and bodily functions.

The added BCAAs and Glutamine are simply the cherries on top.

Vega Sport and the Keto Collagen protein pair well with the Keto diet. However, I do give the edge to Vega sport because of how much amazingness they managed to stuff into their protein.

The only reason I didn’t list it as #1 on this list of keto protein reviews is because it’s a little pricer compared to Keto Collagen.

3. Isopure

isopure zero carb protein

Coming in 3rd on this list of the best keto protein powder is Isopure Zero Carb.

Like the name states it’s completely ZERO carbs which makes it completely Keto friendly.

It’s made completely of premium whey protein isolate. Whey tends to be the leading favorite in the different kinds of protein for it’s overall effectiveness.

Isopure also decided to go a little more healthier with this protein by making it gluten, lactose and sugar free

Nutritional Facts

  • 31g per scoop
  • 100 Calories
  • 10mg of Cholesterol
  • 240mg of Sodium

  • 25g of Protein
  • 0g of Fat
  • 0g of Carbs

  • ZERO Carbs
  • Premium Whey Protein
  • Gluten-free
  • Lactose-free
  • Sugar-free

  • Could taste better
  • High sodium content
  • Zero fat

Isopure is a brand that has proven to be trustworthy in the fitness world. You can never go wrong with any of their supplements.

Their zero carb protein supplement holds true to that statement.

However, this is a review for keto friendly protein powder. It’s a great source of protein and since it’s zero carbs it’s definitely a great supplement if you’re doing keto.

Isopure Zero Carb has almost as much protein as the Vega Sport but it’s a more cleaner supplement as it doesn’t contain any other unnecessary ingredients (i.e. probiotics, BCAAs, and Glutamine)

However, where this product falls a little short is the fat being zero. You should be getting all of your healthy fats from your food but it is nice to have a supplement that gives you a few extra grams of fat as well.

4. Quest Nutrition

best protein shake for keto diet

Quest is a brand that started off with protein bars that people loved because they tasted delicious.

With their rapid growth and popularity they decided to jump into the world or protein supplements.

Luckily, they stuck to their guns and came out with a protein that not only gives you 23g of protein per serving but also taste really good!

Their protein is a nice blend of casein and whey protein giving you the best of both worlds. Plus Quest offers a variety of flavors to make sure you find your favorite

Nutritional Facts

  • 31g per scoop
  • 110 Calories
  • 15mg of Cholesterol
  • 170mg of Sodium

  • 23g of Protein
  • 0g of Fat
  • 4g of Carbs

  • Variety of flavors
  • Premium Whey and Casein Protein
  • Gluten-free
  • Soy-free
  • No unnecessary ingredients

  • 4g of Carbs
  • Reviews claim it’s hard to mix
  • High in sugar

Quest is a great choice for protein if you want to do keto.

It’s also great for beginners because Quest products tend to be all about flavor. Unlike other supplements you won’t get the overpowering aftertaste of protein.

The only downside is the 4g of carbs. Since this seems to be more popular with beginners you’ll need to make sure you’re keeping track of your carb intake or you might just go overboard

Overall, I like quest because they keep it simple and don’t feel the need to add unnecessary ingredients. If you choose this product then you’ll get a clean blend of casein and whey protein

5. Optimum Nutrition

best keto protein powder review

Nutritional Facts

  • 39g per scoop
  • 140 Calories
  • 10mg of Cholesterol
  • 180mg of Sodium
  • 1g of Fiber
  • 1g of Sugar

  • 30g of Protein
  • 1g of Fat
  • 4g of Carbs

  • High quality whey protein isolate
  • 8g of BCAAs
  • Made to mix easily
  • Made for your body to digest quickly
  • Trusted and well-known brand

  • 4g of Carbs
  • Could taste better

Usually when it comes to reviews of protein, Optimum Nutrition tends to be higher up on the list.

Not only is a well known brand in the fitness world but their products are top of line in quality and results.

However, this article is specifically about protein power for a keto diet which puts ON lower on the list.

Their Hydrowhey is great and PACKED with 30g of protein but it also has 4g of carbs.

4g of carbs isn’t too bad as long as you keep track of the rest of the carbs you eat throughout the day. You don’t want this protein to be the reason you can’t reach ketosis

Overall, Optimum Nutrition’s Hydrowhey is great and can definitely work well for a keto diet.

Just keep in mind that personally, I don’t think the average person on Keto should get this specific protein. I believe it’s better suited for those who are more active and focused on putting on muscle

My Personal Recommendation

Okay so you’ve read through my entire list of the best keto protein powder and now you’re wondering, “well, which one would you buy Bryan?”

I’ve honestly bought and tried all the protein powders on this list. Optimum Nutrition is a brand I always go with but until recently I’ve been leaning towards the Vega Sport because of the extra health benefits.

However, this is for a keto diet so my recommendation to you will be to choose between the Keto Collagen by Perfect Keto or Vega Sport.

If you’re just starting the keto diet then maybe Keto Collagen will work better for you.

If you’re already use to the keto diet and working out then Vega Sport will probably be your best bet.

At the end of the day it’s completely up to you but if you want to learn more about either of those two I’ll leave the link below so you can check them out yourselves.
